Global Collaboration

Global collaboration has affected me as a person in many ways. Since I have experienced it in school, it has allowed for me to work better with other online and also understand how team work comes into place.  Without it we would not be able to do projects like the wiki research paper, outsourcing videos and to trust someone else that they will get their part done. If we have student of all ages perform these activities they will be a lot better off with the use of technology and communicating with the outside world.

It all began when my class started to read about how the world was flat, which lead to making videos and writing papers with people across the world. Teamwork or global collaboration allowed for my partners and I get the job done and work very well together. Now that I have global collaboration before I leave school I will be able to succeed in technology by have the skills I learned in school. Teachers were smart by having students learn these skills for later in life. This has allowed for technology to bring us closer than ever, as if we were right next door.

The World is Flat

The world is flattening as we speak.  I have concluded that in fact the world is flat.  My class and I have been reading the book The World is Flat by Thomas L. Friedman.  I have learned many things about the world flattening.  The world is being flattened through many steps called flatteners.  I have many mixed emotions about the world slowly flattening.  I thought to myself how could my world be flattening, and then I hit me.  With all of our technology I could believe it.
Many people were shocked to hear such news.  I also was not very shocked because of all the new innovation and technology we have, it makes sense that it could make the world flat.  I have learned many things through this topic and project my class and I had to do.  I learned that as technology gets more advanced the world slowly flattens.  I say this because we can video chat across the world faster than ever and we can get news here in our country, just as fast as in the country that is being affected.  I would say that this unit definitely showed me that our world is way more advanced and will be so advanced in the future that we won’t want to even leave our houses.
I am definitely excited for the flat classroom project and I cannot wait to get started.  I am a little nervous about whom my partners are and if they are going to follow through with their part.  I am a little confused on how this project is going to work because how do we share our information with one another.  I am eager to meet my partners and get to work.

Digital Citizenship

What does digital citizenship mean to you? Well what digital citizenship means to me is fun and safe online environment. Teens use the internet all the time for social media and to help them stay safe and responsible online.  In order to be a great digital citizen online you have to be respectful, responsibly, caring towards others.  You have to be yourself online and not what you want them to see you as. In order to be a successful digital citizen you have to be fun and safe online, but also you have to have a good attitude about the internet and others.

I have come up with a couple of online guidelines to being responsible online. What I think is the number one guideline for teens to follow, is to know what you are getting into and staying prepared/calm. What is also an important guideline is knowing what is right and wrong to say, and also before a post or tweet, thinking to yourself, "would I say this to their face," if not, don't post it! A couple more guidelines for teens are to have fun, but in a responsible way, never talk to strangers, do not start stuff online, and remember that what you have said online is online forever and can never ever be taken off.

Some may ask, Zach do you have a social media account.  Well,I do have an account and I frequently use it.  I am a great digital citizen and I use my account in an appropriate way.  I have never ever said anything online that I would not say to someone in person.  Ever since this unit, I have been even more responsible with what I do and say online. If I had to rate myself out of five stars on how good I am of a digital citizen, would be a for sure fire stars because I am responsible online and know my consequences if I don’t follow my self-made guidelines.

For a better understand of what digital citizenship means to mean, I created a fun way to show you using tagxedo.

Have you ever thought about yourself in the digital world?  Well here are some questions to see if you are using it correctly and safe.  Are you a good digital citizen?  Are you good with technoloy?  How do you act online?  Are you a safe and respectful user towards others?
